Cara Cheung Fall 2012
Designer Cara Cheung made her World MasterCard Fashion Week debut Wednesday as she presented her Fall 2012 collection which accented her work with jewelry.
Though the designs maintained a simplistic silhouette, the details of each dress were far from ordinary. With great colour (we’re still loving the unusual pairing of black and blue), texture (from lame to snakeskin to sheer) and shape combinations (including peplums and cutouts), Cheung impressed audiences with her attention to detail.
The garments incorporated futuristic accents including sharp shoulders, scale-like layers and armour-like embellishments. Details included elbow-length cuffs, colour blocking (check out the neon pieces) and some Lady Gaga-style mirrorball-studded dresses.
The looks stayed mini for the most part aside from pieces that added hi-lo skirts and sheer swath of fabric that glided fluidly down the crisp white runway. For her first appearance at Toronto fashion week, Cheung kept it short but sexy.
