Holt Renfrew showcases eight Canadian designers for Spring 2012
The opening night Holt Renfrew show has become a hautely anticipated presentation for the past few seasons, mainly because it’s eight shows in one and our only chance (other than style.com) to scope out Canadian design prince Jeremy Laing‘s latest collection. They also manage to squeeze in a preview of this season’s closer, Denis Gagnon. And Holt’s did not disappoint. Laings’s femme’s were relaxed, cool and chic in shades of pale grey, beige and white. While Gagnon was feeling floral for Spring 2012, dressing girls in head-to-toe floral on black that had jewelry designer Maryam Keyhani declare via Twitter “I NEED that flowery Denis Gagnon suit. Tnx!”
With the mix of colourful looks from Canuck staples Lida Baday and Smythe, some boys in skinnies from Naked & Famous, stripes, lace and sequins at TwentyCluny, more boys in Wings + Horns and chic tailoring from Dennis Merotto Holt’s had us at Hello.
