Animal prints were everywhere on the Fall 2010 runways. Think 3.1 Philip Lim for spots, Moschino and Malandrino for leopard and the tiger print coat that garnered applause at Evan Biddell’s Fall 2010 runway show. Make sure to add our favourite, leopard print, to your wardrobe now and you’ll be able to wear it with ease all through out fall.

Boozing and beauty may not be the best idea in the world but after witnessing the $10 manicure and drink special first hand in New York City, I’m willing to try it!

We found a hand tip sheet on when to stash and when to throw your expired beauty products
in the trash.

From aubergine to cassis, purple is the makeup shade this fall for everything from lips to lids.

FASHION CRUSH: REPETTO’S BB FLATS

Just about the only thing that I have in common with off duty supermodels? Quite a few of us can be seen walking to and from fashion sets wearing our favorite Repetto ballet flats, the BB. For the uninitiated, this style was made by the French shoe company in 1956 specifically for Brigitte Bardot to wear in the film Et Dieu… créa la femme (…And God Created Woman). And it’s been a hit for them ever since. The big deal? Besides looking effortlessly chic and season-less, they are guaranteed to be the most comfortable shoes you own.

SLICK CHICK

Fall into everything that is shiny this season with these jeans, shoes, t-shirt, wallet and bag—that show you just how good being a little slick can actually be. Be careful though kittens: We believe in keeping the shine to one piece per ensemble or you’ll look slightly too slippery in our opinion.

SAVING FACE

With humidity reigning upon us this summer (we’re trying not to complain!), we’ve been left grasping at any old thing to keep us feeling refreshed throughout the day. And unless you’ve managed to stay indoors or have avoided pounding the pavement, there’s a good chance a thin layer of slurry is forming on your face. Kiehl’s Açai Toning Mist (180ml, $34) is our latest obsession. A great way to balance out skin, it helps to ease the stresses of intense heat vs. sub zero air conditioning. The light mist refreshes the skin and provides a nice little wakeup call when we hit that 2pm wall. kiehls.com

LABEL LOVE

A company that has seen their jeans on many a celebrity bottom (Georgia May Jagger is still their main girl), is now launching into a slightly higher priced line of luxe separates a la designers Alexander Wang and Helmut Lang. We’re in love with the minimalist draping of Hudson Collection’s jackets, tees and tanks, as well as their well-tailored skinny pants.

Hudson Collection, from $200 to $995, available mid-August at Holt Renfrew.

Stranger shades for lips have been emerging from the runway, red carpet and beauty counters. Ke$ha recently rocked baby blue lips on the red carpet at the Casio launch party and Refinery29.com picked a few stranger shades to slick on your lips. Would you ever wear a moss green or baby blue on your bouche?

We haven’t been able to bring ourselves to drink kombucha tea, which despite it’s disgusting appearance and smell is quit the rage by all health nuts and fountain of youth seekers. However, we may try it through one of the new Scientific Organics products in the form of a gentle gel Kombucha Cleanser.

As if some of the chemicals in nail polish weren’t enough to put some of us in a health scare before mani/pedi-ing it up, some are also concerned that the UV lights at nail salons can cause skin cancer.

GETTING SOME GOSSIP

Upper East Siders aren’t the only ones who will be perfectly polished this fall. Nicole by OPI will release four new shades inspired by the stylishly scandalous group on Gossip Girl. Nicole…Spotted! is a sparkling green that would look best accompanied by a flute of Blair’s favourite champagne. Too Rich for You, is a rich, dark navy with hints of a green shimmer that would look great on the way to the Met Ball. The glittery silver that is Scandals, Secrets and Sparkle would be a favourite of party girl Serena Van der Woodsen. Aspirational little Jenny Humphrey may slick on the dark blue of Party in the Penthouse, hoping she’ll be invited to Blair’s next soiree.

The polishes, $10.49, will be available in mid-August at select Wal-Mart, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Loblaw across Canada.
