Pink Tartan Fall 2014

’90S GIRLS

The Pink Tartan Fall 2014 collection hits the runway on Day 3 of World MasterCard Fashion Week

Fusing Canadiana with luxe fabrics and her signature ladylike looks, Kimberly Newport-Mimran’s latest collection for Pink Tartan left fans and editors talking. Whether they were craving the fair isle knits, buffalo check plaids or big, furry mittens, it was clear this show was favourite among the crowd, yet again. Cosy wool coats, houndstooth in both black and white and red black, voluminous skirts styled with cigarette pants underneath, all made for a very PT collection. In a way, Mimran’s new lady is a grown up version of what we’re seeing at street level. With an ode to the 1990s, thanks to turtlenecks under dresses and those amazing cropped wide-legged trousers, this was one for the woman who wants to look on trend in the most luxe way possible. We were also coveting the longer, crisp white shirt over skinny white pants look, along with her rich brown leather a-line skirt, similar to the black knife-pleated version she has out now for spring. Hits of sequins and shine added a well-placed touch of glamour to the latest from the Canadian bred brand. It was hard to see where her main line and her washable collection for Tide met, but that was a good thing. Clearly not in the washable collection, the furs and knits put this collection over-the-top. Seems like designers are catering to the cold weather fashionista more than ever!
