A new must-see store in Toronto’s Queen West neighbourhood is bringing even more fun to summer
Hey Toronto Friends, have you been to the Trinity Tuck Shop yet? Well, we definitely think you should go! The super cute cement and wood store, set up by two Toronto fashion staples, designer Ashley Rowe and Vintage 69’s Kealan Sullivan, opened less than a month ago in the same Queen West spot that housed their recent pop-up shops, and is filled to the brim with fun. Think everything you need for a relaxing or boisterous afternoon in the park: The Pop Shoppe drinks (the Lime Ricky brings us back to our childhood!), gluten free chips, cosy blanket rentals, gelato, a fully, very well-stocked candy bar (on one afternoon, Rowe’s hand actually read No Candy, a reminder to stop nibbling throughout the day!), homemade popsicles and racket rentals, all nesting alongside some fabulous vintage finds.
“The tuck shop became a reality after one of my Pop Up Shops was finishing, and I happened to run over to the 7/11 on a Sunday around 6, and it was super packed!” Rowe tells FRM. “I thought “we should be this busy” and sell healthier options than the convenience store snack, which everyone knows and loves. I talked to Kealan about it, and she had had a similar idea last summer…so this tiny little idea became a reality very quickly, and we’re both super excited about it.” The team, which also include a very handsome man who goes by the name Dylan, will be adding even more fun soon, with the addition of bocci, badminton and board game rentals.
Word of mouth has been kind to the little store, and Rowe, who, thankfully, is still designing her eponymous clothing line, is amazed at how quickly it has picked up momentum. “We had a couple come in who were eating at Fresh for lunch and mentioned they wanted to hang out in the park. Their waiter directed them to us for a park blanket rental and dessert—they bought two of the homemade popsicles.” We love when great ideas happen to great people!!
